Urgent Appeal -- We Need Your Help!!!

Action for REACH OUT (AFRO) is the first organisation in Hong Kong that provided services and support for sex workers. Founded by Sister Ann Gray, Sister Helene O'Sullivan and Ms. Melanie Orhant almost 30 years ago in 1993, we have been developing a wide range of projects and programmes on sexual health, women's health, mental health, anti-drugs education, and rights education for sex workers. Our projects and programmes have been supported by various funders. Before the pandemic hit, we served (face-to-face) an average of 6,000 users every year.

However, for a long time, AFRO has to cover most of the rental and administrative expenses (about HK$50,000 per month). In the past two years, due to the impact of the pandemic on the economy and public fundraising activities, general donations made to AFRO have dropped significantly; in the face of rapid changes in the society, some long-term donors have left Hong Kong and suspended donations.

Our reserves will only cover our operating expenses until June next year. We are therefore appealing for your support to help us through this difficult period. We hope that friends who recognise the value of our work could become our monthly donors. Your monthly donations would be crucial for AFRO's long-term and stable development.
