AFRO Annual Report (2017.07-2018.06)
Chairperson's Report
As the chairperson of AFRO this year, I have witnessed the development of the organisation and the increase in the number of service users. I would like to thank all volunteers and staff members for their support and encouragement. Taking on the role as chairperson has given me the chance to further understand the work of AFRO, to exchange with various partners, and to work together towards social integration and the acceptance of sex workers.
AFRO endeavours to extend its outreach and drop-in services to more sex workers, to create an open and friendly environment for them, so as to facilitate them to fight for their own rights, to protect themselves and to build up an even wider and stronger support network. Once again, thank our staff team for their efforts!
Apart from social factors, health issues that sometimes ignored by even sex workers themselves also concern us. Therefore, we have also strengthened our work among sex workers on sexual health promotion and disease prevention.
In spite of all sorts of challenges, I believe that our team, of great perseverance, will continue the efforts on public education, communication and exchange with different sectors. Based on the missions of the organisation, we are committed to facilitating the development of an open and fair social environment for women working in the sex industry.
